On Wednesday 6th March 2024, at the stroke of 11am, the Manju Shahul-Hameed Foundation hosted a hugely successful âFeeding the Homeless Peopleâ event. Everyone who attended, absolutely loved the food and the day was filled with endless chatter, laughter and enjoyment. This event truly illuminated the lives of those in need.
This foundation was established 7 years ago by Cllr Manju Shahul-Hameed, and it has continuously been hosting marvellous events such as this one, from day one. This event not only offered food to the homeless but also brought a sense of community and belonging to everyone who attended. As the doors of West Croydon Methodist Church opened wide that day, the aroma of fresh food and drink drew in a diverse crowd of both volunteers and recipients, all eager to partake in the dayâs offerings. Everyone couldnât express enough how much they loved the event, and they are already looking forward to the next one!
Among the attendees were two sisters Millie and Melanie, whose faces were beaming with wide smiles as they spoke of their experience. Millie said âThe food was amazing! I havenât had this much fun in a while. It felt like being part of one big happy family!â Her sister nodded in agreement as she said, âEveryone here was so kind and the food was absolutely delicious. I felt like the community really came together for this event and overall, it was just so much fun.â
The success of the event was not just measured by the pleased smiled of attendees but also echoed in the sentiments of the food sponsor, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK. “We are so delighted to be sponsoring the food for such an honourable cause,” remarked a representative from the community. “Seeing everyone together, enjoying the food and spreading love, that’s the true essence of humanity. Today’s event was a huge success, and we are looking forward to supporting this foundation in future events.
This event could only have been made possible through the dedication of the volunteers and generosity of the sponsors. The foundation received so much appreciation from the people who attended the event and brought a spark of light to all their lives. This all goes to show, a little kindness and warmth can go a long way.
